Andrew embarked on his career at Liberty Life in early 2003 as a tied agent. Over time he realised the importance of independent advice as different providers compete in different markets. He founded Toro Financial Planners with Josh, Stan and Veloshnie in mid-2006. He has two industry related qualifications, namely Finance Honours and he is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional. He achieved overall distinctions for both qualifications. In 2005, he finished as top student for 2 of the 4 subjects in my Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning (Personal Financial Planning & The Financial Planning Environment).
Andrew says "I focus on giving the best advice tailored to the particular client’s needs. Our array of product providers enables me to find the best product at the right premium".
Josh joined the industry on his return from London in 2005. He holds a B.Com degree from Bond University Australia in which he qualified with distinctions. Josh is very involved on the offshore investment side of the business and keeps a track of economic and political trends which he shares regularly with his colleagues. Josh has a passion for detailed financial plans particularly for retiring clients. Learning so much about the psyche of retiring and retired clients allows Josh to assist his younger clients to stay on the right path. Josh is one of the founders and directors of Toro and offers the full array of products and advice under Toro’s FSB licence.
Stan is an accredited representative of a wide variety of investment, assurance, insurance and medical scheme providers. He provides holistic, rounded, tailor-made and unbiased advice to his clients.
Stan is a co-founder of Toro Financial Planners. He says “Everyone shares three common goals at Toro: The client’s best interests are always central to our being, we learn continuously and we focus intensely on exceptionally high levels of service.“
A veteran in young company, Clive has served the industry for more than 20 years, 14 of which was spent with Liberty Life’s Agency division. He enjoys a warm relationship with a loyal body of clients spanning all age groups and a wide range of professions. One of his biggest motivators is when the grownup children of a long-standing clients seek his advice.
Clive takes pride in his detailed and thorough approach to financial planning and in finding and offering appropriate, sustainable solutions. In the dynamic world of personal finance he has seen a lot of changes over the years and says he finds the ongoing learning stimulating and a blessing.
“Yet, with the vast array of products, solutions and choices out there, what’s really satisfying is recognising that the core principles of risk management and wealth creation are universal and constant. Happily for us, customers included, the principles remain the same. Our real job is to convey these principles and remove the complexity of choice.“
Having spent five years at Alexander Forbes Financial services dealing with the disbursements of pension, provident, group life assurance and medical aid benefits, it became very clear to Happy that there is an urgent need for independent, holistic and trustworthy financial advice in the Industry. Toro Financial Planners provides that platform.
Happy is a holder of a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in Finance and is studying towards completing his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Happy says “the CFA program is very clear on its position regarding ethical professional conduct and it is this spirit that I strive to be an ethical, trustworthy and honest financial advisor for the mutual benefit of my clients and the profession as whole“.
I began my journey at Toro in 2019 fresh out of university as a Para Financial Planner under the guidance of Andrew Delmont.
In 2020 after gaining the necessary experience and confidence, I embarked on my journey as an independent financial planner.
I have obtained a B.com degree in finance and honours in financial planning. I aspire to guide all my clients in both saving and investing their money.
I understand that every client is different and being able to offer them a tailored plan to suit their needs is fulfilling.
